JARROD KEARNEY

Drums

I was born in Harrisburg PA, where I lived for 14 years. Both my parents are musicians and well educated so it was only natural for me focus on school and the music. I started playing guitar when I was 10 years old before I realized my true passion, the drumset. My first band, as a drummer at the age of 13 was sloppy punk and made up of all my childhood friends (now forming the band The Spotted Atrocious). We recorded a single album for free at a local church and weeks later I moved to Satellite Beach, FL. Early in high school I spread myself pretty thin. At one point I was drumming in 5 different bands that played Hardcore, Ska, Pop-Punk, and the high school Jazz and Marching band. In my senior year I met Mark Hartman and we started working together to write music unlike anything in the area. I knew right away that I had found the musician and friend I would work with for a long time and within months I quit everything else I was doing musically and joined Mark full-time. Now, all my family, friends and fans are pushing me to create new and better stuff every time and I really feel that's what being a part of Junior Doctor is all about.

1. What was the single most thing that inspired you to play music?
There has been this continuous, indescribable emotion that goes with listening to music and early on in life I realized I can cause others to feel that way about the music I make. Ever since that moment of realization I've strived to give people a strong music listening and watching experience.

2. What is your favorite band and why?
This is my least favorite question... ever. Everytime I hear a song and say "this is my favorite" My brother Jack (a big music fan) laughs at me and says every song can't be your favorite. It's because I can analyze the reasons behind the writing for most artists and it makes me feel closer to the song. So here it is: My favorite bands are The Killers and Coldplay because they have some of the most brilliant writing in music today.

3. What hobbies do you have when you have time away from the band?
I sail a 16' Hobbie Catamaran around the Island I live on. There's nothing but wind, water and silence. On the flip side of that, at night I love to hang out downtown at my friend Brian's Hookah Lounge "Vapor". Partying all night with drinks and good music is unbeatable.

4. If you could only eat one food the rest of your life what would it be?
First off... Why? It would have to Salmon because if I was stranded on an island and had no other food source, grilled fish is delicious.

5. What is your favorite song to listen to when nobody else is listening - the worst 'guilty pleasure' on your iPod?
Taylor Swift, Love Song. Teeny-Bopper Country Category aside, there's some good stuff in there.

6. Money no object: if someone told you had to buy and live in 5 houses in 5 different cities, what cities would you choose?
1. Rehobeth Beach, Delaware
2. Cleethorpes, England
3. Key West, Florida
4. New York, NY
5. Liverpool, England (Favorite Premier League Team)

7. What's the best meal you've ever eaten?
On Tour in New York City we ate outdoors in little Italy: Lobster Ravioli with crab topping!

8. Which one musician - dead or alive - would you like to meet and why?
Gene Simmons. He's doing exactly what I want to do and I'm sure he'd have wisdom to share.

9. All-time favorite movie?
The Life Aquatic.

10. Which of the following do you prefer:

Skiing or Beach: Snowboarding (since I was 10)
